I will say it upfront; I am not a foodie. I lived in NYC for eight years and missed out on so many hole in the walls that get amazing reviews for the food. It’s not that I only like going to trendy restaurants, I just care a lot about the décor and things like how comfortable the chairs are and how good the service is, and the food comes after that. I am much more of a visual person and the ambiance and general vibe are huge factors for me when choosing restaurants. Which is why you will see more pictures of the actual restaurant here than you do the food. I would never take a picture of my food, I simply don’t care enough. To be clear, I wouldn’t recommend anywhere with BAD food. I don’t care how pretty the view is or how comfortable the chairs are, if the food is gross then just go for a drink and then move on. NOW, let’s discuss where to eat and drink in Mykonos, based on ambiance, service, décor……..oh and food.

NIKOLAS TAVERNA Go for an authentic Greek lunch on the beach

On a small beach on the south coast (walking distance from Platys Gialos along a dirt path), this traditional taverna has been run by the same family for three generations. It’s an excellent place for a solid, hearty meal in a relaxed, waterfront atmosphere. Much of the fish is caught by the owner, Nikolas, and most of the meat dishes are prepared with meats from the family farm.

ALEMAGOU Go for a sophisticated beach club

This elegant beach bar has a relaxed bohemian vibe and is located in a remote part of the island. This is one of the more sophisticated beach clubs in Mykonos, with a laid back scene that is perfect for relaxing all day with a good food and cocktails.

HIPPIE FISH Go for lunch at a fun beach club with good food

Hippie Fish is a casual but lively beach club. The beach setting is perfect for relaxing all day and consuming fresh sushi and cocktails from a lounge chair. There is even a reserved area to enjoy a hookah.

SCORPIOS Go for lunch and stay until dinner

Scorpios is one of the most popular beach clubs in Mykonos. Located right outside of town, come here for a long lunch on the beach that turns into watching the sunset surrounded by cocktails and live music.

M-EATING Go for a low-key dinner in town

M-Eating is set in an old house built early in the 20th century on Kalogera Street in the center of Mykonos Town. You have the choice of dining inside the restaurant, in their garden, or out on the veranda on summer nights. The farm-to-table menu has a mix of fish, meats, pastas, and salads, which are all made using fresh, local ingredients.

BUDDHA BAR Go for dinner at a luxury hotel with a live DJ

This world famous restaurant is located beachfront in the Santa Marina hotel. Perfect for groups looking for a fun time, have dinner and drinks while DJs keep the energy alive late into the night. Seafood and Asian cuisine is served with a Mediterranean twist. Must-try dishes include seabass ceviche, baked scorpion fish, signature Buddha Bar sushi rolls and seared tuna tacos.

This restaurant is open for dinner only and is located in a beautiful garden courtyard in the heart of town. Dress to impress at Interni. You can expect fabulous food, fancy drinks, fantastic music and a lively atmosphere in a super stylish setting.

REMEZZO Go for a seafood dinner in town with a water view

Serving primarily seafood and located right on the water, this upscale restaurants turns into a cocktail lounge with dancing at night. Great food and vibe for a fun night out.

SPILIA SEASIDE RESTAURANT Go for dinner in a unique setting; a cave!

Spilia Seaside Restaurant is one of the most iconic Mykonos hotspots. It’s situated on a platform of rocks overlooking a cove and attracts a very chic crowd. Enjoy fresh fish at this authentic Mediterranean eatery.

KIKI’S TAVERN Go for an authentic Greek lunch off the beaten path (no website)

This hidden gem overlooking a cove is a bit out of the way but that makes it extra special. They don’t accept reservations so many people take a swim or just enjoy the scenery while waiting for a table. While Mykonos may be known for its party scene, come here to relax under the trees and sip on wine and enjoy delicious fresh food.
